Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Yein Kim, “Is Your Heart Good Soil?”

Reflecting on the Parable of the Sower, the Rev. Yein Kim connects Octavia Butler’s post-apocalyptic fiction novel with today’s Gospel reading, both of which illustrate how the power of love and the vision of community can be sown and grown even in the most hostile environments. Butler said it best: “The only way to prove to yourself that you have power is to use it.” The readings are Genesis 25:19–34, Psalm 119:105–112, Romans 8:1–11, and Matthew 13:1–9, 18–23.
