Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Phillip A. Jackson, "The Beauty of His Holiness"

February 14, 2021

“We hear so much these days about the ugliness of the world,” preaches Father Phil, “and today’s lesson is about the beauty of God.” On this Last Sunday after the Epiphany we hear of Jesus’ dazzling transfiguration before Peter, James, and John on the mountaintop. Although the experience of God’s holiness seems to warrant a reply from them, “the only necessary response to being in the Lord’s presence, is with one’s life. No words needed, but a life is the only response we can give.” The readings are 2 Kings 2:1–12; Psalm 50:1–6; 2 Corinthians 4:3–6; and Mark 9:2–9.
