“Who we are to be are a people who give of self to others.” The Rev. Phillip Jackson has noticed that many of us ask the question: What am I supposed to do to live an ethical life? However, Father Phil reminds us that a better question is: Who am I to be? Father Phil admits neither question is easy to answer, but offers one piece of guidance: Is our action directed toward ourselves and what benefits us? Or is our priority looking out for other people? Watch the sermon. The readings are Exodus 17:1–7; Psalm 78:1–4, 12–16; Philippians 2:1–13; and Matthew 21:23–32.
