Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Phillip A. Jackson "The Eternity of that Terrible Moment in Time"

July 2, 2023

“Would I follow God’s will no matter what, or would I follow God’s will when it dovetails nicely with what I like?” The Rev. Phillip Jackson says the details of the scripture story of Abraham and the command to sacrifice his son Isaac are “awful” and “brutal.” Yet Father Phil believes the account can be valuable to consider as a test, not because anything remotely similar would ever be asked of us, but because the story raises challenging questions we should be willing to confront. Watch the sermon. The readings are Genesis 22:1-14; Psalm 13; Romans 6:12-23; and Matthew 10:40-42.
