Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Michael A. Bird: "A Time for Commencement"

It's commencement season. "There's something about this moment that introduces a new beginning, a new way of being together, something bathed in humility and possibility and access and approachability and reality and practicality," preached the Rev. Michael Bird in Trinity Church this morning.

Fr. Bird gives three examples of commencements: a chance meeting on the subway that became a viral hit; Jesus calling the 12 disciples in Matthew 9:35-10:8; and the announcement to Sarah and Abraham that they would have a son, Isaac, in Genesis 18:1-15 and 21:1-7.

He reminds us that Jesus calls us too, and a commencement of our ministry could come at any time. Maybe it will be through a conversation on the subway, or through a kind gesture of helping others. Be ready! Watch the sermon.
