Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Matthew A. Welsch, "Learning from Young and Old"

July 9, 2023

"It's in holding the tension between past and present that we best articulate our story as Trinity Church, as the body of Christ, and step together into God's promised future," said the Rev. Matthew Welsch in today's sermon at the 11:15am service in Trinity Church.

Reflecting on the Old Testament story of Rebecca and a forthcoming project by the Trinity Youth History Fellows this summer, Fr. Matt emphasizes how we all have something to learn from one another, young and old. "As adults," he says, "our job is to help teenagers benefit from our hard-earned wisdom and intelligence without squashing their passion and their dreams for a better world."

The readings are Genesis 24:34-38, 42-49, 58-67; Romans 7:15-25a; and Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30. Watch the sermon.
