Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Canon James G. Callaway "Divine Collaboration"

September 3, 2023

The story of Moses and the bush that burns, but doesn’t burn up, followed by a conversation with God, might seem like a distant, fantastical episode, but the Rev. Canon James Callaway says such encounters, with less dramatic detail, happen all the time, if we just pay attention. Father Callaway reminds us that God needs us, like Moses, to be collaborators in the work of love and justice, and that the most ordinary of places in our lives can be holy ground. Watch the sermon. The readings are Exodus 3:1–15; Psalm 105:1–6, 23–26, 45c; Romans 12:9–21 and Matthew 16:21–28.
