Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Alfred Loua, “Seeking the Good Places”

August 6, 2023

"Prayer is a transfiguring meeting with God, a transformation," said the Rev. Alfred Loua on the Feast of the Transfiguration in Trinity Church. "When it takes place, it changes our plan and our presence. Our life then becomes the presence of God. The place it is good to be."

The Feast of the Transfiguration celebrates Jesus’s radical change of appearance while in the presence of Peter, James, and John, revealing Christ’s glory. The top of that mountain was a good place, so good that Peter wanted to build dwellings for Moses, Elijah, and Jesus there on the spot.

"Some moments in our life are so good that we would like our whole life to be like them," continued Father Alfred. "We have this desire to be or to live in goodness because that was God's purpose when He created us."

The readings are Exodus 34:29-35; Psalm 99; 2 Peter 1:13-21; and Luke 9:28-36. Watch the sermon.
