Family Service Sermon, The Rev. Kristin Kaulbach Miles, "The Kingdom of God is Like a Bowl of Soup"

"The Kingdom of God is like a bowl of soup that people keep adding in and where strangers become friends," explained the Rev. Kristin Kaulbach Miles this morning at our family service.

While scanning the news for good news this week, Mother Kristin discovered the story of Annie Rauwerda in Bushwick, Brooklyn, who has been bringing her soup out into her community to both share it with others and to invite others to share their ingredients too.

"The Kingdom of God is what happens when we are in relationship with others. It's something we build again and again," she added. "And all are welcome."

The readings are Romans 8:26-27, 35, 37-39; Psalm 105:1-2, 5-10, 45b; and Matthew 13:31-33, 45-52. Watch the homily.
