The Rev. Elizabeth Beth Blunt unpacks one of the more challenging stories in the entire Bible, the scripture called “The Binding of Isaac” when the patriarch Abraham seems about to follow a divine command to kill his son Isaac. Mother Beth reassures us that we should recoil at details of the story, but pay attention to the ending, a conclusion which demonstrates the “utter reliability of God.” The readings are Genesis 22:1-14.
