Confronting Death

May 26, 2015

On Sunday, March 18, at 1pm, Jon M. Sweeney, Phyllis Tickle’s official biographer, discussed her written work over fifty years (poetry, plays, literary, spiritual, and historical/theological), as well as her life. This video of Tickle, shot in 2004, explores her attitude toward death.

Phyllis Tickle, the beloved religion writer, died in her sleep on September 22, 2015. Earlier in 2015 she announced that she had Stage IV lung cancer, saying, in her characteristically factual manner: “The dying is my next career.”  Tickle was a longtime associate of Trinity Wall Street and in this video interview with Bob Scott from a Spiritual Formation Summit more than a decade ago discusses “Death and Divine Living.”
