Compline by Candlelight

May 8, 2022

Compline by Candlelight provides peace and stillness as one week ends and another begins. Set in the tranquility of St. Paul’s Chapel, one of the oldest buildings in New York City, guests find a seat and hold a candle, while 30 minutes of mantra-like, chant-based improvised music by The Choir of Trinity Wall Street fill the space. There’s nothing to do but listen.

Aaron Nichols – Night:

1. Our help is in the name

2. Lord, it is night

Carlotta Ferrari - Songs for Hildegard:

1. Nos sumus in mundo

Felix Mendelssohn - Laudate Pueri

Francis Poulenc - Quatre petites prières de Saint François d’Assise, III

Claudio Monteverdi - Psalm: Cantate Domino

Frank Ticheli - Anthem: Earth Song

Rani Arbo - Crossing the Bar

Amy Beach - Nunc dimittis
