Comfort at One: Andrew Yee

April 9, 2021

"Early in the pandemic I woke up and emotionally recorded ‘Louange à l’Éternité de Jésus’ from Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time. When I was asked to make a video for this [Comfort at One] series, I knew I wanted to compose something new and include a nod to that piece. I used a small section as a vocal interlude in the midst of gestures that represent darkness and light and the way they can blend and cohabitate. The piece is dedicated, lovingly to my friend, Mel Baker," says Cellist Andrew Yee.
