Monday Sermon, The Rev. Matthew Welsch: "Remembering Our Queer Martyrs"

Saturday marked the fifth anniversary of the Pulse nightclub massacre where 49 LGBTQ+ individuals were killed in a mass shooting in Orlando, Florida. It is day Father Matt remembers vividly, although “violence and the threat of violence are not new” to this community. He reminds us that the church can learn much from our LGBTQ+ siblings who have endured, "afflictions, hardships, calamities, beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, sleepless nights, hunger. And responded with purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, holiness of spirit, genuine love, truthful speech, and yes the power of God.” The readings are 2 Corinthians 6:1–10 and Matthew 5:38–42.
