Jerusalem Youth Chorus: Palestinians and Israelis Singing for a Just Peace

Join us on Sunday, July 14 at 2pm, as Trinity Church presents “Voices of Peace” featuring the Jerusalem Youth Chorus: young Palestinians and Israelis who use the power of words and music to foster dialogue, understanding, and empathy – even in the worst of times.

“In the JYC we have a rare chance to truly hear each other, and that’s what makes the chorus a home for all of us,” says a statement from the members of the JYC. “We know we don’t have the power to single-handedly stop war, but we also know that the reason war continues is because people think there is no alternative. We are the alternative.”

The chorus intertwines influences from both East and West, blending Arabic mawwal (vocal improvisation) with classical harmonies, drawing out the Middle Eastern rhythms in everything from pop songs to traditional choral music, with lyrics in Hebrew, Arabic, and English.

Voices for Peace at Trinity Church is part of the Faith Over Division Tour, sponsored by the One America Movement. The One America Movement’s mission is to work with faith leaders and faith communities to build a united American society and eliminate toxic polarization.
