How We Worship

Baptism at Trinity Church

Trinity is an Episcopal parish where all are welcome to participate. Our faith influences every aspect of our lives, but Sunday mornings are a sacred time. We gather with purpose — to read scripture, sing hymns, and pray, together. The practices we follow as a community remind us that we are beloved children of God.

Church services follow the Book of Common Prayer, a centuries-old collection of written prayers and instructions that guide our worship. When you come to church, you’ll receive a printed bulletin to walk you through each step. Take part in a way that’s comfortable for you. If you feel lost at first, don’t worry. Your presence alone is enough.

The centerpiece of our church services is the Holy Eucharist, or communion. We break bread and drink wine, remembering Jesus’s last meal with his friends before his death and resurrection. As we eat and drink, we meditate on God’s love for us — a love that is not selfish but self-giving. Everyone is invited to take communion. If you do not wish to receive communion, you’re invited to come forward to receive a blessing instead.

FAQs

Am I welcome at Trinity Church?

Yes! Just by being born, as you are, you are part of God’s family and we want to see you here.

Is childcare available?

During the program year, mid-September through June, we offer nursery care for infants and toddlers during our 9am and 11:15am Sunday services. At 10am, two-year-olds through fifth graders are invited to join Children’s Time, where they’ll learn Bible stories and play together in peer-grouped classes.

Is there a dress code?
No. Please wear what makes you feel comfortable.

Do you provide assistive listening devices?

Yes, assistive listening devices are available at the 9am and 11:15am services. Please ask an usher, or visit the welcome table (to the left of the main doors as you enter) to pick up a device.

Is parking available?

Parking validation for LAZ Parking (70 Greenwich Street) is available for parishioners attending Sunday service. Please see security staff to receive a validation stamp.

What’s the music like?

Music is provided by an organist and the soaring voices of Trinity Choir, sometimes joined by Trinity Youth Chorus or guest musicians. Often they present an anthem or other special selection, and together we sing a mix of classic hymns, new works, and traditional spirituals. A custom-made eight-thousand pipe organ is currently being installed in Trinity Church. Manufactured in Germany, the new pipe organ is collaboration between Glatter-Götz Orgelbau in Germany and tonal designer Manuel Rosales, the team behind the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall organ in Los Angeles.
