Choral Scholars Program

Choral Scholars Program

Through unparalleled, accessible performances, recordings, partnerships, international tours, and its powerful music ministry during church services, The Choir of Trinity Church Wall Street has had an immense impact on the art of singing — ancient and modern, sacred and secular. Trinity Church’s musical reach extends far beyond its culture of stellar performances. It has an equally proud tradition of music education, which extends from Peppercorns for ages K–5 through St. Paul’s Chapel Choir and Downtown Voices for adults. Where we see a gap in professional music opportunities, however, is in the young adult population — particularly those recently graduated and taking the next steps in their careers. With the creation of the Scholars Program, we aim to find and train young singers in the art of ensemble singing at the highest level, while also identifying new artists to add to the ranks of Trinity’s professional ensemble and other music-making enterprises.

The Scholars

The ideal scholar is 23–29 years old, and is contemplating, planning, or actively beginning a professional career as a singer. Candidates should have a background in choral or instrumental music, with a desire to further study the canon of choral music and develop their ensemble skills. While a degree in music is not necessary, applicants may be enrolled in undergraduate studies, taking a gap year, pursuing graduate study, or further along on their career path.

Scholar selection will take place in spring 2024 by audition. The finalists will be announced in summer 2024, to begin their season in September 2024. Scholars will be paid on a per-performance basis.

Interested singers can apply using the form below, and a staff member will reach out with next steps.
