“Holding Out Hope”: The Renewal Concerts
“Renewal is constantly part of who we are,” said composer Jessica Meyer, one of the artists behind the transformative “Renewal” concert series launched last year by Trinity’s new music orchestra, NOVUS NY. “Because if we are not slowly growing, we are slowly dying.”
Featuring Olivier Messiaen’s chamber music masterpiece Quatuor pour la fin du temps (Quartet for the End of Time), Viet Cuong’s percussion concerto Re(new)al, premieres by composers from Sing Sing Correctional Facility, and other awe-inspiring works, the series was designed to consider some of today’s most pressing social, political, and environmental issues through music.
