Thomas did not believe at first, but as the Rev. Yein Kim points out, the disciples did not believe Mary Magdalene earlier either.
"This story of doubting disciples for the Second Sunday of Easter is a gift to all of us who have endured loss, isolation, and doubt over the last two years," she says. "Jesus lives, not because he can walk through the locked doors and show his wounds, but because he breathes new life through the gifts of the Spirit."
