Today we encounter the “beautiful, powerful, terrible” reading of Luke 16:1–13, which ends with Jesus's well-known statement: "No slave can serve two masters...You cannot serve God and wealth."
"At Trinity, we're blessed with wealth. We have with that, a great responsibility," said the Rev. Phillip Jackson, Rector of Trinity Church Wall Street. "The question is, do you serve it? Or does the wealth serve God? Here at Trinity, we need to be mindful that the wealth is to serve the kingdom that is all around us."
We serve others through our values, by giving where it's needed, like to nonprofit groups that are providing critical services to migrants who entered the US at our southern border and are being then sent to DC, Chicago, and NYC. We follow the values that Jesus articulates. That shapes what we do and who we are.
