Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Phillip A. Jackson: "On Whose Authority?"

In today’s Gospel passage, “Jesus touches on things that hurt and are close to the bone,” preaches Father Phil. Jesus speaks about anger, lust, swearing oaths, “and that’s all before he gets to loving your enemies or forgiveness!” If this passage make us squirm or indignant it might be because it speaks to something we hold dear and rarely, if ever, critique: our own authority.
