Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Phillip A. Jackson: "Looking for Meaning in all the Wrong Places"
December 4, 2022
This morning the Rev. Phillip Jackson shares a deceptively simple question that today’s reading has him considering for the first time: why did John’s followers decide to head to the river Jordan and submit to baptism? “For the same reason that we do,” he offers. “They were looking for meaning and purpose.” Father Phil reminds us that there is only one place we should be looking that can "bear the weight of such a search," and it's often not the place we're looking first. Watch his homily from the second Sunday of Advent. The readings are Isaiah 11:1–10; Psalm 72; Romans 15:4–13; and Matthew 3:1–12.
