Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Kristin Kaulbach Miles: "The Celebration of Baptism: Outward Signs of Our Inward Grace"

Preaching on a day of baptisms here at Trinity, Mother Kristin tells the story of her own baptism, a day that didn’t go exactly as planned. In fact, her own grandmother was concerned that it wouldn’t stick! “All of us can be like my doubting grandmother,” she offers, or even John the Baptist who questioned his ability to be an instrument of grace and healing. “That’s what today is about. We need reminders of where we came from, union with God; that we are born into it and we die into it.” The readings are Isaiah 42:1–9; Psalm 29; Acts 10:34–43; and Matthew 3:13–17.
