Family Service Sermon, The Rev. Kristin Kaulbach Miles: “Our Ripening Love”

May 15, 2022

“It takes time for us to open up.” Preaching to our youngest parishioners on this Fifth Sunday of Easter, Mother Kristin offers that people are more like fruit or plants than we may have thought. Like a newly planted seed or an unripe banana on the kitchen counter, people too live and love according to their own timelines and require patience, space, and time to ripen in the ways we want. “Instead of the hot glare of questioning and critique, we might step back and let a little dappled sunlight come through.” The reading is John 13:31–35.
