Christmas Eve can be messy and joyfully loud, but it can also be poignant and full of longing, as evidenced at tonight's midnight service at Trinity Church.

The Rev. Elizabeth Blunt conjectures, "What drew us to this late service is an unspoken desire to stretch out the deep and quiet darkness of Christmas Eve: to stop time for Mary, Joseph, the baby, and ourselves, and to make this moment of sweetness last just a little bit longer."
