9am Holy Eucharist Sermon, The Rev. Matthew A. Welsch: "Our Thirst for God"
March 12, 2023
“Have you ever been so thirsty and hungry that you were in a terrible mood?” Today we have two stories that are both about being thirsty, albeit in different ways. From a cranky crowd in the hot desert with Moses to a chance meeting with a Samaritan woman at a well, we encounter ways “God is as important to us as water and food.” Father Matt reflects on the thirst that sets in when we don’t feel God’s love. The readings are Exodus 17:1–7; Psalm 95 and John 4:5–15.
