July 8–10, 2022 with the Kintsugi Academy

As an opportunity to discern Trinity Church Wall Street’s core value of Compassion, join leaders from Makoto Fugimura’s “Kintsugi Academy” for a weekend to learn the traditional Japanese artistic method of kintsugi (kin=gold, tsugi=mend), in which broken or shattered objects are mended with gold.

Retreatants will receive materials for an intensive creative journey, while exploring themes in spiritual formation such as imperfection, beauty in brokenness, self-compassion, value, healing, renewal, and becoming.

Spend the weekend of the Perseids Meteor Shower watching the ocean of stars above West Cornwall and exploring time, space, and the universe through the dual lenses of science and the Abrahamic faiths of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.

Write new poems and prayers, as we draw inspiration from the prophetic, contemplative, and liberating prose of Mary Oliver and Maya Angelou.
