How do we live a joyful life in healthy relationship with others, even those with whom we might have disagreements? What is the relationship between joy and reconciliation? This will be an exciting weekend retreat for participants to think more deeply about the places where we find joy and to ask how God might be speaking to us afresh in a beautiful autumn setting. Come for rich conversations and dynamic teaching. Join Dr. Miroslav Volf, renowned theologian from Yale Divinity School, author of Exclusion and Embrace and The Home of God: A Brief Story of Everything (with Ryan McAnnally-Linz).
September 23–25, 2022 with the Rev. Dr. Mark Francisco Bozzuti-Jones and Dr. Kathy Bozzuti-Jones
Join us for a weekend of prayer, reflection, writing, silence, and sharing of poems to inspire us on our spiritual journeys. Led by the Rev. Dr. Mark Francisco Bozzuti-Jones and Dr. Kathy Bozzuti-Jones, participants will spend a weekend reflecting on the poetry of Mary Oliver and Maya Angelou. Come. Share your poems and prayers. Write new poems and prayers, as we draw inspiration from the prophetic, contemplative, and liberating prose of Mary Oliver and Maya Angelou.
Cutting-edge science supports a truth that poets, artists, mystics, and earth-based cultures have proclaimed across millennia: life on this planet is radically interconnected. Join Lyanda Lynn Haupt, an award-winning author, naturalist, and ecophilosopher, as we explore her book Rooted: Life at the Crossroads of Science, Nature and Spirit. In Rooted, Lyanda explores “rootedness” as a way of being in concert with wilderness—and wildness—and throughout the book she offers practices, way-markers and fortification for all who are seeking our unique, bewildering path through the essential question of how to live with grace and authenticity on our imperiled, beloved earth. This will be an exciting retreat for participants to think more deeply about environmental justice, the places where we find joy, and our connection to nature.
